<p>Kemwell PFP <strong>Corex A1</strong> is a non-combustible gypsum board for applications where superior fire performance and innovative solutions are required, such as structural steel protection, shaft walls, partitions, and ceiling linings. </p>
<p>A building with a steel frame system should withstand fire, without losing its integrity during the fire, at least for long enough to evacuate people from the building. To achieve this, the load-bearing steel columns and beams must maintain their integrity at high temperatures for long periods without losing their carrying capacity and integrity. Steel encased with Kemwell <strong>Corex A1 </strong>can maintain their load-bearing capacity for between 15 and 240 minutes.</p>
<p>Steel does not contribute to the spread of fire. During a fire, it fulfils its load-bearing capacity up to a certain temperature accepted in standards. The temperature at which its load-bearing capacity starts to decline is known as its ‘critical temperature’. Design in steel structures is carried out in accordance with the load-bearing capacity of each different type of steel at room temperature. A critical temperature is selected for beams and columns in accordance with the type, purpose, and the load rate of the building. This critical temperature is accepted to be 550°C in columns and 620°C in beams. When steel members are within the compartment line, for compartmentation using Kemwell <strong>Corex A1</strong> board, please consult the Kemwell Technical department.</p>
<p>The core of Kemwell <strong>Corex A1</strong> is reinforced with special additives to enhance fire resistance. Both sides of Kemwell <strong>Corex A1</strong> are covered with a completely non-flammable fibreglass mat, meaning the board is classified as A1 non-combustible in accordance with EN 13501-1.</p>

<p><strong>BBA certified</strong> WeatherKem is a non-combustible calcium silicate fibre cement board, combining weather, moisture and fire resistance properties with high impact strength and sound insulation. It is rated as a <strong>Category A board to BS EN 12467:2012+A2 2018</strong> for applications where they may be subjected to heat, high moisture and severe frost.</p>

<p>Tested in accordance with BS 476 parts 6 &amp; 7 classified as Class 0 building board with Class 1 surface spread of flame. The boards can be used for the construction of fire-resistant building elements to satisfy the criteria of BS 476: Part 22: 1987 Method for Determination of the Fire Resistance of non-load-bearing Elements of Construction – Determination of the Fire Resistance of Partitions, to achieve EI 60 and EI 120.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Weather Resistant</h3>



<p>With cement constituting a large percentage of its composition, Kemwell boards offer excellent resistance to the harmful effects of the weather.&nbsp;It is rated as a&nbsp;<strong>Category A board</strong>&nbsp;to BS EN 12467:2012+A2 2018 for applications where they may be subjected to heat, high moisture and severe frost.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Vermin Resistant</h3>



<p>Fibre cement board is resistant to termite and vermin attack and prevents fungus growth.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Acoustic Insulation</h3>



<p>Airborne sound reduction varies between 26 and 44 dB according to thickness of the panel and mineral wool usage.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Chemical Stability</h3>



<p>Weather<strong>Kem</strong>&nbsp;is a chemically stable building material which retains its strength over time.</p>



<p>The board is unaffected by many diluted chemicals such as brines, bleaches, detergents and chlorine solutions.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Dimensional Stability</h3>



<p>Boards provide excellent dimensional stability in variable ambient temperatures and in humid conditions, ensuring a high level of protection from impact and the elements is maintained allowing the board to perform under difficult conditions.</p>



<p>Weather<strong>Kem</strong>&nbsp;has the strength of brick and block with the&nbsp;benefits of a dry panel system.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Easy Workability</h3>



<p>Weather<strong>Kem</strong>&nbsp;board with its wood-like properties can be drilled, sawn and sanded with normal woodworking tools. The board can be fixed using screws and nails, pre-drilling a hole slightly bigger than the shank. As well as being easy to install, it can also be shaped during installation.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Smooth Surface</h3>



<p>Weather<em>Kem</em>&nbsp;board is light grey in colour with a smooth finish; it can be decorated with minimum preparation. The panels can be finished with laminates, foils, paints and renders using alkaline resisting adhesives, primers and coatings. Painting provides a weather seal. <h3 class="wp-block-heading">Durability</h3>

<p>Fire<strong>Kem</strong> FP-900® has superior fire resistance performance and the boards are approved for up to 240 minutes fire resistance according to BS 476: Part 22: 1987 depending on application.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Dimensional Stability</h3>



<p>Fire<strong>Kem</strong> FP-900® has excellent dimensional stability under elevated temperatures and in severe moisture environments.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Moisture Resistant</h3>



<p>Fire<strong>Kem</strong> FP-900® will not deteriorate when used in damp or humid conditions and will not encourage mould growth. The boards are also rot proof. Performance characteristics are not degraded by age or moisture. Untreated surfaces will absorb water, which can cause some loss of strength, but full strength is regained after drying.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Chemical Stability</h3>



<p>Fire<strong>Kem</strong> FP-900® is a chemically inert calcium silicate board, unaffected by contact with most chemicals and resistant to dilute acids and alkalis.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Acoustic Performance</h3>



<p>Fire<strong>Kem</strong> FP-900® provides good acoustic reduction performance of between 26-49dB. It also provides thermal conductivity (approximately) at 20°C of 0.17 W/mK.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Easy Workability</h3>



<p>No special equipment is required for cutting or drilling of Fire<strong>Kem</strong> FP-900® boards. It is recommended that cutting of the boards is carried out in well-ventilated situations, or the wearing of suitable dust masks to reduce the hazard of nuisance dust production, during the cutting or drilling process. Boards may be flat head nailed or pilot drilled, then screwed.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Smooth Surface</h3>



<p>Fire<strong>Kem</strong> FP-900® has a smooth surface but due to their high suction should be first sealed prior to applying paints, plasters, or wallpapers.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Durability</h3>



<p>Fire<strong>Kem</strong> FP-900® is a lightweight but strong building board. System performance is unaffected by the hazards and condition of its working environment it does not rot.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Vermin Resistant</h3>



<p>Fire<strong>Kem</strong> FP-900® boards remain unaffected by rodent, termite and insect attack.</p>
